AsnaniMr. Asnani, our keystone team member is one of the country's renowned experts on urban governance and an International Expert on Solid Waste Management, is the chief of our Urban Management and Urban services Verticals. Working in the urban sector for over 30 years, Mr. Asnani's experience and expertise is widely sought by various governments and civic authorities both nationally and internationally. He has been a member of the Supreme Court appointed Expert Committee on Solid Waste Management; a member of Technology Advisory Group & Chairman of the Core Group on appropriate Technology & Research & Development in Solid Waste Management. He was a member on the Expert panel to draft the National Manual on Solid Waste Management constituted by the Ministry of Urban Development, Govt. of India. Mr. Asnani has represented India in various forums constituted by leading national and international development agencies / institutions like the World Bank, USAID, ICMA etc

Anshita Asnani
P.U. AsnaniA Chartered Accountant from India and a CPA from US, Ms Asnani is the Managing Partner and heads the Financial Management and Poverty Alleviation Verticals. She is an expert in modern methods of financial management and financial discipline. She has given her expert services to several Urban Local Bodies in various States of India. She has been actively associated in introducing financial reforms, in many ULBs of the country.

Poverty Alleviation and infrastructure development for the urban poor are her areas of special interest. She has helped to develop institutional and legal framework for industrial townships of Gujarat State. She has contributed substantially in the preparation of DPRs (Detailed Project Reports) for JNNURM cities and has also focused on augmenting the financial capabilities of Municipal Authorities through her training modules for the Civic custodians of our society.

Bhupinder Singh Bedi
P.U. AsnaniMr. Bedi has worked with ADB as a PPP Expert for 5 years with. In this capacity, he has assisted the State Governments of Gujarat & Chhattisgarh as well as Ministry of Urban Development, GOI with the Development& Structuring of Projects, Bid Process Management, Capacity Development and Project Monitoring of Infrastructure Projects in PPP format. He has also contributed to development of PPP Policy and Regulatory Framework for PPP s in India. Prior to joining ADB, he has over 20 years of experience at the top management level in Project Appraisal & Corporate Finance with Industrial Development Bank Of India (IDBI); the largest Development Bank in the sub continent. In addition, he has also worked with leading corporates in techno commercial functions in India and abroad. He has also served as a Director on the Board of Directors of some large companies in India. His area of interest is Infrastructure Financing and PPP Projects.

Veena Garella
P.U. AsnaniMs. Garella a Regional Urban Planning Expert, heads our Urban Planning Vertical. She has more than 30 years of experience in preparing master plans, city development plans, urban planning training programs and urban renewal schemes. She is retired Professor from School of Planning & Architecture, New Delhi and is currently involved as a training expert in Orientation training programme for preparation of City Development Plans for 152 municipalities of Tamil Nadu.

She was intimately involved with the Delhi Master Plan 2001 providing inputs to various sectors such as industry, commerce and services, and with a major thrust on the informal sector, an area which she continued working on and introduced the subject when she joined the School of Planning & Architecture in Delhi.

Prof. Garella has interests in heritage conservation and introduced it for the first time in the postgraduate programme as an important component of the course from a planner's perspective. Several papers were presented on this topic at Singapore and Newcastle based on research done in Delhi. She is now involved with the City Development Plans for 19 towns in three different states in India. This being a new exercise in planning practice is rather under-researched and needed unconventional ways of looking at towns other than the guidelines which were formulated for them.

Vidhyadhar Deshpande
P.U. AsnaniOver 35 years under his belt in the domain of town planning, Vidyadhar Deshpande is considered to be among the country's leading exponents in the preparation of Development Plans for small, medium and Corporation Towns. From tracking the effects of Rapid Urbanization to formulation of Policies for Future Development to organizing Resources to achieve Optimum Results, Mr. Deshpande's seminal work on the Annual Statement of land Rates Revenue for the Govt. of Maharashtra enhanced the state exchequer revenues eightfold.

Kirti Chandarana
P.U. AsnaniB. Tech. in Computer Systems, British Columbia University, Canada. ADSE - Honors (Software Engineering) Kirti is an authority on GIS. He, in various capacities has worked on Forest Divisions Management Maps for entire Gujarat Forest area, prepared Base Map and performed density mapping using satellite imagery for Ratanmahal Wildlife Sanctuary, Jambughoda Wildlife Sanctuary, Dangs District, Baria Forest Division (Dahod District). Also, he was involved in bringing out the Zone Mapping of Coastal Villages and Planning maps for entire Gujarat state. He has successfully done Forest Resource Survey which essentially are Grid maps along with transect lines and herb/shrub points for enumeration for the forest areas of Dangs and Chhotaudepur Forest Divisions. His other significant works includes Forest Protection and Improvement at Junagadh and Dangs, Hingolgadh Sanctuary Management and Nature Education Camps, initiatives on Social Forestry at Dehgam, and preparation of Working Plan for Territorial Forestry at Vadodara. One of his areas of interest is to identify the scope of application of GIS and Remote Sensing in the forestry and prepare reports in such a way that the Forest Managers can use it for managerial decisions in Forestry.

K.R.Gopalkrishnan
P.U. AsnaniAn engineer by profession and a renowned expert in solid and liquid waste management, Mr. Gopalakrishnan has conceived, planned and implemented liquid & solid waste management projects for numerous urban local bodies across the country.

He has been advising World Bank, ULBs, State and central governments from time to time, on the management and disposal of solid and liquid wastes of cities. Mr. Gopalakrishnan has also contributed a great deal in devising waste-to-energy strategies for many local bodies. He has actively associated in Urban Poverty Reduction Projects across India.

J B Kagathara
Mr. J.B. Kagathara is a senior environmental engineer having more than 35 years experience in the area of urban water supply, sewerage, water and waste water treatment. His expertise lies in preparation of detailed engineering, construction, procurement management, commissioning, operation & maintenance of water supply and sewerage treatment plants. He has prepared detailed project reports including financial feasibility of the projects for various cities.

He has personally handled water supply and sewerage services as a special city engineer in the city of Rajkot where he looked after commissioning and operations & maintenance of sewerage network, pumping stations, rising mains, sewerage treatment plants of 90 MLD capacity, and safe disposal of treated affluent. He holds a master's degree in environmental engineering with distinction. He was specially deputed by central public health environmental engineering organization (CPHEEO) New Delhi for his master's program.

D. B. Makwana
P.U. AsnaniOne of the pioneers to introduce double entry book keeping in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation for the first time in India, D.B. Makwana is also the first to get a credit rating for an Urban Local Body and raising almost a billion INR from the public as tax free bond, another first for the entire south east Asian countries. Additionally, he has also been the recipient of international habitat award for slum networking project meant for improving the infrastructural / environmental and socio-economic conditions of slum dwellers and urban poor.

C. Basavaia
Mr Basavaiah a renowned composting expert of India demonstrated and motivated several states to adopt composting as a technology for treatment of municipal waste, when he served as MD Karnataka Compost Development Corporations (KCDC).

While there he was also instrumental in turning around a 350 TPD plant into a profit making plant. . He has designed & supervised the construction of several big & small, compost plants in India and has done hand holding of the municipal authorities, enabling them to carry out operations & maintenance of the plant, departmentally or through PPP mechanism. His background as an agriculture graduate adds immense value to his work.
